9-5 in that span but the series has been hotly contested as of late.
Five of the past seven games have been decided by a grand total of 22 points,
with a fourth-quarter comeback and two blocked extra points helping ASU to
two of those victories. There have been two exceptions to the string of highly-
contested matchups between the two squads. One came in a 27 point rout
by the Sun Devils in 2013 with the most recent coming in the form of 52-37
Arizona State victory at Sun Devil Stadium in 2015 this past season. The Sun
Devils have dropped over 50 points on Arizona twice since Todd Graham's
arrival in Tempe after doing so just three times in history prior.
The 2016 contest will be the 90th Duel in the Desert, with Arizona leading the
all-time series 48-40-1. This year’s contest will take place on Friday, Nov. 23.
Additionally, the two programs compete each year in the Territorial Cup Series,
a year-long competition decided based head-to-head results from 20 varsity
sports with the Sun Devils claiming victory over the School down south in
each of the past five seasons - including two dominating five-point victories in
2014-15 and 2015-16.
